Irving Prue:  Soaring Pioneer

Irv was long recognized throughout the world as a pioneer in glider design.  His gliders began flying in the late 1940's in advance of their time.  He was responsible for introducing a series of low profile, high performance ships,

setting the trend for the next generation of gliders coming out of both the United States and Europe.

One of Irv's designs resides in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.  In 1964 he was inducted into the Soaring Hall of Fame

Irv was a Lockheed Engineer and skilled metal worker.  His design abilities and riveting skills can be seen in all his planes
